3 Signs You Are Settling for a Mediocre Life

Read here about three signs that you are settling for a life that is mediocre, as well as five big reasons you’re not reaching your potential in God.  Your ideas are the seeds that will help grow your potential.

So many Christians are settling for a life that is mediocre or ordinary. You have been created for so much more. In fact, you have been called to an extra-ordinary life and not just to merely exist from week to week.

Listen to the meaning of the word ‘potential’ here from the book by Dr Myles Munroe called ‘Unlock Your Potential’…The unexposed, untapped, hidden, dormant revelations that lay beneath the accumulated dust and grime of many years.

It is a sad thing to have all the talents and giftings that God has given you and not use it for His glory! It’s time to use all that creativity to add value to people by creating inventions, products and services to enhance and empower lives!

Here are 3 Signs You Are Settling for a Mediocre Life

  1. No progress in any area of your life and you have a niggling feeling inside as you know you are not doing your best. But you lack the motivation to do anything about it. You actually feel threatened when challenged to achieve more in your life.

  1. You dread your job and life and know there’s more but you’ve stopped dreaming and you lack the imagination needed to see beyond your circumstances. Discouragement has set in and prevents you from believing in the future. You may even resent others that have achieved success in their lives.

  1. You are always looking for a quick way out. You only do just enough and lack the inspiration needed to go the extra mile. You feel you don’t have the energy to go for your dream. You tend to procrastinate in whatever you do.

Don’t settle for average. You were made for greatness.

Victoria Osteen

We are responsible to activate and release the potential within us. Imagine all the wonderful books, songs, ideas, and inventions that would not be enjoyed by those in the future, if we never released what God has put in us. He has created in us ways of inspiring and equipping generations to come.

One of the best ways to begin to achieve your own dreams and fulfil your potential, is to help someone else fulfil their dream, as what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you!

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

John 10:10 AMPC

Ideas are Seeds for Growing Your Potential

When God created the earth, He only provided the basics. The rest was up to Adam to take care of and create out of the resources that God had supplied. Every idea, like a seed, has a divine time to grow to full maturity.

The most miserable people are those who don’t have any ideas to pursue and therefore cannot produce a harvest. Those who do not generate ideas will find themselves serving the ones who do. God gives us ideas that are superior, and he wants to partner with us, so he gives us the seed.

The problem is that most of us ask for the bread. But God wants to give us the seed so He can multiply it in our hands, and therefore receive a much bigger harvest!

The brain is the equipment God has given us to capture idea-seeds from heaven and to manufacture and produce them here on earth.

You can be sure that your dreams, desires, and your creative ideas have come straight from Heaven, and therefore nothing will be able to keep it from coming to pass, as long as you stay connected to the source!

Your heavenly Father loves you! You are born to overcome! You are born to win!

You are not alone. In this article I will show you 3 ways God shows you your God-given purpose, as well as how to fulfill your purpose for your life. I will also give you five important questions to ask yourself that will help provide clues to the purpose God has especially designed for you.

Many people are asking the question ‘What is my purpose?’  When you are looking to find your purpose, it doesn’t have to be a great lifelong quest! Your life holds clues to what God has prepared for you.

The word Purpose means ‘original intent for which someone or something was created.’

Certainly, in finding your God-given purpose, you must realize you are a divine creation designed for something very specific. Therefore it stands to reason that the first place to go to find your purpose is to the One Who created you – your heavenly Father.

5 Big Reasons You're Not Reaching Your God-Given Potential

  1. Fear of Failure

Are you afraid of failure? Do you major on your failures, and minimize your successes? This will result in you dreading the future, as no matter what happens, you will never be happy with your results. You will never reach your potential if you are afraid of failure!

Don’t let the failures of the past stop you from going after your big dream and achieving all that God has for you.

The fact that you failed means you at least tried which is more than many will do.

You don’t need to worry about failing. In fact, the more you fail, the more of an expert in your field you will become, as now you can teach others what not to do!

Many of the things we dread or fear never happen! Just realize that failure is part of success!

Strength doesn’t come from what you can do.

It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.

  1. Comparison

Do you find that you are always comparing your work or creations with others? It could be that you are a perfectionist. Perfectionism can come from comparing yourself to others which the Bible says is not wise. If you continue in this way you will eventually burn out. There will always be others that are much further ahead than you in your field. But remember, they started off just like you!

Because God has made you unique, you will always have an audience that is drawn to the way you do things. You have been given a personality that will appeal to a specific type of person. So be confident in who God has called you to be!

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Eleanor Roosevelt

  1. Opinions of Others

You’re afraid to stand out because you are more afraid of what people think than what God thinks of you. Usually, people are not thinking what you think they’re thinking at all. The truth is they are mostly focused on themselves and hardly notice others.

Of course, there are those that have your interest at heart whose opinions are worth listening to and heeding. You just need to check if their suggestions are in line with your kingdom assignment. If so, they might even be a good mentor for you.

A man who is intimate with God is not intimidated by man.

Leonard Ravenhill

  1. You’re Forgetting the Big Picture

Remember ‘why’ you are doing it in the first place. Your why or your compelling reason for achieving your full potential needs to be always at the forefront of your mind. It will help you to keep on track and make right choices so you are heading in the right direction.

It will also help you to stay motivated to keep going, even when things might seem difficult or challenging. Think of those you are helping and whose lives will be changed forever because of your faithfulness and perseverance to excel at what God has given you.

When you know your why, you’ll know your way.

Michael Hyatt

  1. You’re Trying to Do Everything Yourself

If there is one thing I have learned, it is that I can do nothing without God’s help and the help of others! God will let you try on your own for a while, then when you are exhausted and finally ready to give up, He will come to the rescue! You will save a lot of time if you just surrender to His leading from the start!

God never meant for you to do everything on your own. You were designed for relationship with Him and others. Remember, your assignment is not just for you but to help others.

Your heavenly Father loves you and has strategic people and places aligned with your destiny. He will send you just the right people at the right time who will provides resources and even finances to help you achieve your purpose in this life.

There is no such thing as a self-made man.

You will reach your goals only with the help of others.

Final Thoughts...

I believe we are in a time where God is shaking the earth. He is waiting for His people to take their place in the plans that He has prepared for them before the foundation of the world.

He has a wonderful plan for you where you will get to use all the talents and gifings that He has placed within you. Take hold of this time now to hone those talents and skills so you can be a part of reaching the marketplace for the kingdom of God. Such joy comes when you know you are in god’s will for your life!

We are creative beings made in the image of God.

Be intentional about pursuing your assignment from God. Then watch as the favor of God brings the provision and the resources you need as you set yourself to fulfill your God-given assignment!

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
