Do You Believe in the Goodness of God?

SINCE I WAS A YOUNG GIRL, I HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE GOODNESS OF GOD IN MY LIFE.

Learn here why I believe the God is good. I have also given you my answers to three of the biggest questions about God’s goodness.

My heavenly Father has always been there for me in times of trouble and in good times. I have always enjoyed an intimate relationship with Him.

Therefore, it saddens me, and even breaks my heart to see that many people, even Christians, do not believe in God’s goodness. In fact, they see Him as a dominant father figure who is ready to punish them for the slightest shortcoming.

The enemy, the devil, has succeeded in portraying God as unloving, and uncaring. Even though people know His son Jesus came and died for them, Satan has deceived them into accepting a religious and legalistic view of God and Christianity.

We don’t have the capacity to exaggerate the goodness of God.

Bill Johnson

The only people whom Jesus received trouble and persecution from, were the religious leaders of the day.

The Pharisees and Sadducees wanted to kill Him because He revealed their evil hearts and intentions. These religious leaders were oppressing their own people with strict man-made laws that they themselves failed to uphold.

Even though they were avid scholars of the Word of God, they had so much hate and treachery in their hearts that they did not even recognize the Messiah when they saw Him. The sin in their heart had blinded them to the truth.

Satan uses the same religious and legalistic spirits to cause man to question God’s goodness and blame Him for all the wickedness and trouble in the world.

Three of the biggest questions people ask concerning God’s goodness are…

  • “Why do bad things happen to good people?”
  • “How can a good God send people to hell?”
  • “Are there many ways to God in heaven?”

I do not have all the answers, but what I do know is that you have an enemy that hates you and wants to destroy every part of your life.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:9-10 NKJV

The goodness of God is infinitely more wonderful than we will ever be able to ever comprehend.

A.W. Tozer

It is the sin in people’s hearts that Jesus came to destroy as He knows that this is what causes all the problems of humanity and ultimately leads to death. Therefore, He had to rebuke the religious leaders and show them the error of their ways.

It is sin that makes bad things happen to good people, not God!

God does not send people to hell, but they go there of their own choice when they reject God’s love and refuse to receive God’s precious gift of salvation that Jesus paid such a high price for on the cross!

What happened on the cross was the ‘great exchange’ where Jesus became our sin so we could become the ‘righteousness of God’ in Him! He also bore all our sicknessess, guilt and shame so we could be healed and whole! If you have received Him as your Lord and Savior, the Father now sees you as the righteousness of God in Christ, his Son. He no longer looks at your sin! How wonderful is He!!

This is the greatest gift of all! Jesus has made the way for you to go to heaven! He is the only way! You can do nothing to earn it. No amount of good works will get you there! The Bible is very specific about the fact that Jesus is the only way to the Father in heaven.  It’s all about your choices.

Because God made us in His image we have the free will to choose. Besides an amazing life in eternity with Him, He has so many great and precious promises for your life here and now, but it is up to you to choose – life or death!

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Deut 30:19 KJV

God longs for you to choose life! He has so much that He wants to give you and He has an amazing plan for your life. It is so simple – just choose life!

Even when we make mistakes and wrong choices, we need only to truly repent and ask forgiveness, then God will turn those circumstances around and bring much good out of them!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Rom 8:29 KJV

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Rom 12:2 KJV

Did you know that Jesus not only paid for the sins of your past but that every single sin you that will ever commit in the future has already been dealt with – paid in full!

God is not focused on your sins, but on you receiving His gift of salvation and eternal life that His Son paid so dearly for you to have.

Once you have made the biggest decision of your life to choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to help you make good choices throughout your life. Choices that lead to and are connected to life and blessing!

I am convinced if everyone would always choose life, there would be no sin and hatred in the world. But Satan is at work twenty-four hours a day to get you to choose thoughts, beliefs, words and actions that lead to death and destruction.

Don’t listen to Him!

If everyone were like Jesus and loved God with all their heart, and loved others as they do themselves, then the Father would not have any rebellion in heaven again as He did with Lucifer. God would have a family that loved Him and loved everybody!

I believe this is our testing ground here on earth for us to grow and ultimately mature into the stature of His Son, the only one who never sinned.

Why You Can Trust In God's Goodness Towards You

God’s goodness is revealed in everything in creation. God Himself said it was good. There is such beauty and precision in everything He created, that many scientists agree that there had to be a creator.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.

Gen 1:31 KJV

But I want you to see how God thinks about you, and how He longs for your love and fellowship. If you think that your sin is keeping you from the love of God and His goodness in your life, then I encourage you to read the whole passage of the Prodigal Son mentioned in the book of Luke.

I especially want you to notice the Father in verses 20-21.

20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, [f]‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it and let us eat and be merry; 24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

Does this sound like a father that is waiting to hit you over the head for what you have done wrong? NO!! In fact, He was waiting and watching expectantly at the window every day, for his beloved son to return. And when He spots him afar off, He runs to his son, falls on his neck and kisses him!

The son begins to apologize, but the Father does not listen and is so overjoyed at his son’s return that he orders the fatted calf to be killed and throws a big party! Not only that, He restores the son’s position in the family by putting on the best robe and sandals and the family signet ring.

THIS is our true Father in heaven! He and all the angels rejoice when one of his children returns to Him!! No matter what you have done, God is waiting for you to return to Him so He can lavish His love upon you and celebrate you!

King David believed in the goodness of God. Even after everything he went through, he says in Psalm 27:13 NIV…

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Psalm 27:13 NIV

David had an intimate relationship with God since he was a young shepherd boy worshipping with his harp. Because He knew the true character of God the Father, and the power of his covenant with Him, he was confident to deal with Goliath when the time came. God had prepared him.

What is God preparing you for? Do you know that God has an assignment for your life? There is a reason you are here and born in this time in history.

Begin to tap into your destiny and draw near to God the Father as He loves you and is waiting to bless you and help you fulfil the amazing plan He has for your life! You can depend on His goodness toward you as He is good, in fact, He is pure goodness! There is no darkness in Him at all! Only good – all the time!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23:6 KJV

Is the Goodness of God Evident in Your Life?

Did you know that Israel was originally meant to show the distinction between God’s people and the world? But they failed due to their lack of faith and intimacy with Father God. Just like Israel, we too are meant to show the world the difference between those who belong to God and those who don’t.

People need to see a distinction between your life and others. They need to see the goodness of God and His love and power operating in your life.

The parable of the Wheat and the Tares speaks about how both God’s people and the world are growing together. And as they grow, the distiction between the two will grow wider and wider, so that it is easy to determine who is for God and who is not for Him at the time of the end.

This distinction is getting much easier to see in these last days! Those who are against God’s laws are very open and vocal about it. We as children of God need to be the same about our faith and belief in our wonderful God, and stand up for righteousness and justice even in difficult times.

It is important for others to see the goodness of God in our lives as it is His goodness that leads men to repentance, as is spoken here in Romans 2:4 KJV,

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

As God’s precious daughter, you are to be a light shining in the darkness that is rampant today. I truly believe that it is God’s goodness and His great love shown through His people that will draw in the greatest harvest of souls that has ever been!!  God’s love and goodness in and through us!! Hallelujah!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Psalm 34:8 KJV

Final Thoughts...

If you have had questions concerning the goodness of God, I hope that this has helped you to see that you can depend on His goodness, no matter what the world says.

When you are humble and obedient to God’s Word, his goodness will follow you all the days of your life!

There are so many blessings for those who trust in Him. The devil will try and deceive you as he doesn’t want you to fulfill the destiny your heavenly Father has planned for you! You can trust in His goodness!
